Happy, healthy and productive employees

Healthy and happy employees are up to 20% more productive, up to 50% less frequently ill and 100% motivated.

Vitality contributes to personal happiness. In addition, vitality contributes to effective cooperation and successful organisations. It not only matches what we intuitively sense, but this is also proven in studies. Vital people make for vital organisations.

The strategic importance of vitality

Resilient and agile is part of the mission of many organisations. From our conviction, it is therefore necessary to take good care of one’s employees. After all, an organisation cannot be resilient and agile without vital employees.

Vitality programmes are often started as fitness programmes and healthy-eating advice. In many cases, these are one-to-all programmes that have a temporary effect. The power of sustainable and successful improvement is not limited to focusing on lifestyle areas, but focuses on a broader approach that can still be deployed in a scalable (and therefore cost-efficient) way. Only then will you achieve maximum results for everyone. Getting started with vitality and sustainability means working on a vital organisation with vital employees on the basis of vision and strategy.

A broad view of vitality

So vitality goes beyond being physically fit. It is also about mental (mindset and emotions), social (environment and relationships) and spiritual (talents and meaning) fitness. These components are all interconnected and influence each other directly. An energetic employee experiences a cadence between these components, a rhythm in which he or she feels good. Both work and private experiences can cause an imbalance. It is important that the employee learns to become aware of this and knows which button to turn to get the energy flowing (again) (usefulness & necessity).

Employers can facilitate this, after all, as already mentioned, happy and healthy employees are more productive, less often ill and more motivated. So this means having and maintaining a dialogue with your employees about all aspects of vitality, while seeking a connection with the organisation’s vision, mission, goals and values.

This also addresses the needs of young professionals looking for ‘meaningful’ work. This goes beyond salary and fringe benefits. A vital organisation ‘naturally’ attracts people.

We make people and organisations more vital

At Kenhardt, we like to make people and organisations even more vital. Vitality based on the above-mentioned ideas plays an important role in this.

Approach

Starting with vitality in the organisation does not require an immediate large-scale, complicated approach. Well-founded, small steps, often work better than large-scale programmes that turn everything ‘upside down’.

The topic touches everyone. We find that motivation for this is not a discussion. But how to organise it and where to start is. Initiating, advising and supporting is Kenhardt’s role.
